I've got two Rapaflo pills left. Then I'll see what I'm like without them. The pain hasn't been as bad as I thought, given all the sod work I did on Friday. I did take some tylenol yesterday afternoon, but not for stinging pain, just achey legs, groin and scrotum. I just didn't want to be annoyed by it and thought tylenol would help.
Thankfully not much to report today, other than a little tug just above my right groin, in my lower abdomen. I get little sensations like it's going to hurt more, but it hasn't yet. I'm thinking that's a left over from the yard work.
I have my annual physical tomorrow. I'm going to ask for a hormone test. I'm sure I'll have something to post about it then. So, here's hoping for an uneventful rest of the day, Lord willing.
Happy mothers day to all the moms out there.

Laying Down Sod
Sadly, I am forced to do manual labor today. I'm not sure how my body is going to react. It's 85 degrees and I have to put down about 40 square yards of sod. Will I be in pain tomorrow? Will I be taking tylenol or ibuprofen? I think we all know the answer to that. But somethings can't be avoided, no matter how much you want to avoid them. Life goes on regardless of vasectomy side effects and pain.
Yesterday was a good day though and so far today, I'm feeling pretty decent. I have about 4 more days of Rapaflo left before I run out. I'll be curious to see what happens when I stop taking it. Will the daily nerve pain return? I just don't know.
However, these last 10 days or so have been welcomed. Except for some intermittent pain, I think I had the most normal 10 days since my vasectomy reversal. I've been tempted to mention the Rapaflo on the forum but don't want to post anything until I see how I do without it.
Still have lots to do, so I better get back. But before I leave, let me give you this warning. Unprotected sex is not worth the pain and suffering that many of us go through after a vasectomy, reversal, etc. Better to just leave that area alone like God intended.
If he wanted us to turn our sperm off, he would have put a switch on our navel. Condoms and the pill aren't horrible methods of birth control. Please talk to your doctor about other alternatives and leave the vasectomy talk alone. It just isn't worth risking. I can't be any clearer. Try reading the forum to see what real people are having to deal with. It will blow your mind.

Weekend and Ready for a Set-Back
The weekend is here, which means a little yard work, a little errand running (in the car) and a little more activity than I've grown accustomed to. All that translates to more pain on Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday.
Think I'll make a pre-emptive strike and take some tylenol right now. I just got back from Home Depot with flowers and yard stuff. We're trying to get our house ready to sell, so we have a lot of work to do in the next couple of weeks, before we put it on the market. Anyway, after unloading the stuff and digging a small outline around a flower bed, I started feeling the pain in my inguinal area. No surprise. Hopefully, the tylenol will kick in.
One of the problems is, I don't know if I'm hurting myself more by doing work. When I feel pain, is that a signal that I should stop or can I keep going? Right now, I've been treating it like a stop sign. I go back inside and put my feet up on the recliner hoping I don't have to take any pain medicine. Maybe I'll try to just fight through some of this with pain medicine and see what that brings me.
Oh and by the way, the puffy thing on my left teste that was hard a couple days ago, is back to being soft again. What's the deal with that? Also, my wife and I haven't been together for about 2 weeks. I'll be interested in how things go - pain wise - when we connect next time.

Feeling a little better
Okay, I think I'm getting the hang of this post reversal nerve pain stuff. Here is a list of things that upset my nerves, followed by a list of things that make them feel better. I do have a disclaimer though. The nerve pain has a mind of its own. It doesn't need the rest of me to decide as to whether its going to hurt or not.
Makes pain worse:
1. A lot of driving
2. A lot of sitting on a harder surface
3. Sitting upright for a moderate period of time (like at the computer)
4. Sitting forward for about 15 seconds
5. Lots of standing
6. Lots of activity
7. Lifting heavy objects, like my kids
8. Any abdominal straining
9. Tight pants (like jeans)
10. Yard work (digging flower beds - straining)
Makes pain better:
1. Mixing up my standing, sitting, reclining, walking
2. Moderate activity, with no lifting
3. Laying flat on back
4. Tylenol
5. Ibuprofen
6. Staying off computer
7. Keeping legs uncrossed
8. Sleeping on back with pillow under knees
9. Cruise control when driving
10. Wearing basketball shorts
This is not a comprehensive list, but I'm starting to get the idea. It is surprising that sitting upright would cause me pain, but it does. Maybe I need to lose some of my belly fat. I'm not that fat to begin with (I wear a size 33 waist pants), but my belly could use some exercise. After all, I haven't been able to exercise since last August because of the chronic epididymitis and then reversal surgery.
I haven't had any more pain while urinating, since my last mention. Interesting, but as a general rule, I can tell what kind of day its going to be when I first wake up. But remember, the above disclaimer does still apply.

Journal Entry - Weekend
Well, last night went okay. I did have some nervey pain on the right inguinal side, but nothing too bad. Today, we worked out in the yard. Lots of digging, kneeling, bending, pushing, carrying, etc. Your typical spring landscaping clean up kind of day.
Right now, I am a little sore in the inguinal area, but more like I did too many sit ups, rather than that nerve-like pain. We'll see how I feel tomorrow, as there seems to be a 24 hour lag between activity and pain. Might be a motrin day tomorrow. We'll see.
Right now though, it's time to kick back a little, eat some lunch and keep an eye on the kids in the back. It's in the 80's and they're running through the sprinkler. They're kind of quiet right now, which usually means they're up to no good. So I'll sign off this weekend version of my vasectomy side effects jounal.
Have church tomorrow, which is a little uncomfortable. They don't have the most cushie seats, I might have to bring my own cushion that I use in the car.
