Long Overdue

Wow, a lot has happened since I posted last. I think it's been a couple of days since my last post. It's official, we've started homeschooling. Yep that's right, we're homeschooling. We gave the public school a chance, but it just wasn't working out. They're too worried about their statewide testing rather then making sure our kids are being challenged in the classroom. So we pulled them out and now I guess I have that "teaching" job I was hoping for.

I was right about teaching. It has a nice mix of standing and sitting. A little too much computer time, printing off worksheets and such, but I hope that will lessen as we move further into school and my ordered workbooks arrive. Right now, I'm having to create a lot of worksheets on the computer, which makes my nerves down there a little jumpy.

My wife and I have rediscovered our intimacy. We've been together twice this week, Monday and last night (Thursday). That makes three times since last Saturday. This would be considered a world-wind six days of togetherness for us. So I've had 3 E.J.s in six days and I've experienced a little bit of pain behind my testicles. It feels like a paper cut behind my testicles where they attach in the perianal area. I've had this sensation/pain before. It feels like my vas deference is in spasm. It comes and goes. This feeling is painful after a while, because it just seems to build and build. I've taken tylenol twice because it is kind of aggravating.

I've also had intermittent inguinal nerve pain on my left side. In fact, I woke up in the middle of the night several times because of this inguinal nerve pain on the left side. But I rolled onto my side and the pain seemed to have gone away. Not sure why?

I've been walking pretty regularly. I even added a little running this last week. Not very far, just about 20 yards, but it felt really good. At least, while I was running. So I'm not sure if this paper cut feeling/spasm thing and nerve pain is a result of making love to my wife or from the little bit of running I've done. I think I'll stop the running and see what happens with the pain.

I haven't taken any hot baths in a while, I may try that too. So, this post is a little long and a little revealing, but I think it's important to document everything that happens in this online journal of mine, so I can track what impacts my pain levels and how. I had been in a good way the last time I posted. I can see little signposts ahead that look like a bad cycle is on it's way. But I hope it doesn't last very long. Lord willing. Lord willing.

Spasm in the Large Intestine

Okay, I'm going to pull the curtain back a bit. This post will not be for the tender-hearted. Last night I had a peculiar happening. This may provide some insight into what nerves can do when they're angry. But before I get into this, I want to update my walking program.

I walked 30 minutes yesterday and did no core stretching afterwards. Thank the Lord, I had a pretty good day. No real pain to speak of except the random, but brief, sensations around my scrotum which seems to be with me everyday. It's uncomfortable, but not too painful, thankfully. I also had to readjust myself down there to make sure my boys had enough room to move around. But that was about it. All and all, a manageable day.

I just finished walking today and will again, avoid the core stretching. I did have a very brief right inguinal pain while walking, but it passed before I realized I had the pain. I simply decided to walk a little slower from that point on.

Okay, back to what happened last night. Remember, this is going to be kind of graphic in a toilet kind of way, so stop reading now if you want. Otherwise...I warned you.

I sat down at the kitchen table to have a snack with my daughter, when all of a sudden, I had a severe twinge in my right inguinal area. It really came out of the blue. Then, almost simultaneously, I had a severe nerve-type pain in my perianal area. That's the space between the scrotum and the anus. Anyway, this pain was debilitating. It felt as if my colon was in spasm. Like a foot of large intestine wanted to exit my body all at once. I went into the bathroom thinking that may help.

I sat on the toilet and endured excruciating pain for the better part of 15 minutes. The spasm actually made me have a very small bowel movement. Trust me, I'm Mr. Regular in this area. You could set your clock by my bowel habits. So this was highly irregular. But then after I went to the bathroom, the spasm let up and the pain went away.

I've had this horrible pain before. But never associated with the PVPS nerve pain and never this bad or this long...and never just out of the blue like that. It normally happens when I strain a little too hard on the toilet.

So there you go. I'm not sure if it was related to PVPS. I hope this isn't some new ugly turn my syndrome is going to take. I don't think I could keep my sanity if that were the case.

Spasm of Vas Deference

I wonder if some of the pain I experience isn't caused by a spasm on my vas deference. The burning sensation I had and other sensations I've had inside my scrotum on the right side are linear, like they're running the length of my vas. I wonder if it isn't a spasm. I think that would explain a lot.

Some people, for instance, state their pain is less intense after taking a xanax, or after they do pelvic relaxation exercises or after taking an alpha blocker like rapaflo. It seems like those things might prevent or some how affect the state of the vas.

There is a precedent for this idea, as people with asthma have bronchoconstriction of their airways or a spasm of their smooth muscle inside their airways. So our bodies can react in that manner. Now, perhaps the upset nerves are causing the spasm, like a short circuited wire, intermittently sending the signal or not sending the appropriate signal, whichever the case may be.

Anyway, just a thought. Regarding yesterday, I did not have any real significant pain in my groin after my E.J. I'm not sure if it's because of it or just a coincidence. I've thought about doing it again today, but I'm still conflicted about the idea. I told my wife what I did yesterday in the shower and she just apologized for not taking care of that for me. So, I'm not really sure what to do. Maybe I'll try to take a hot shower/bath. Nobody has run the hot water yet today, so there might be enough hot water to work.

One thing I know, sitting at this computer does not make my "boo boo area" (as we call it around the house) feel any better. I've got to get a different computer chair.
