I was thinking about pain in the vas deferens, can you actually feel it, is it the vas deferens that actually is hurting, etc. This brought me to an article describing the role of patency in vasectomy reversal for patients suffering from PVPS. Most guys, including me, who undergo a vasectomy reversal are hoping the reconnected plumbing will remove the back-up congestion. Thus, relieving the stress on the epididymis.
An article in the International Journal of Impotence Research in September of 2012 looked at this very issue of patency. The article is entitled, "Efficacy
of vasectomy reversal according to patency for the
surgical treatment of postvasectomy pain syndrome" by JY Lee, et al in Seoul, Korea.
They isolated 32 patients who underwent a vasectomy reversal for PVPS over a 10 year period. Of the 32 patients, 22 participated in the study. Patency was achieved in 68% of the men or about 15/22. The overall satisfaction with the procedure was scored categorically as follows: (a) cure, (b) improvement, (c) no change, or (d) recurrence.
There was a significant difference in this satisfaction score based on patency; those with patency reported higher satisfaction than those without patency. The authors go on to conclude that patency achievement with vasectomy reversal in PVPS patients has a direct relationship to surgical satisfaction and overall pain reduction.
So the goal for vasectomy reversal for PVPS patients should be the same as those looking to reverse their infertility, patency of sperm.

Not Sure What Happened Last Night
Last night I went to bed like any other night. I kept waking up having to adjust the pillow between my knees. I vaguely remember having an itch down there when I woke up too, but I can't remember exactly. Anyway, I woke up immediately this morning, briefly, after I had this dream that I got racked. The pillow was still between my knees. I woke up in pain, but it quickly faded, within seconds. So I'm not sure what really transpired. Was it a dream, did I accidentally hit myself in my sleep, did my knees slip briefly, pinching my boys? Honestly, I wish I knew.
Because this morning, I'm having this pain behind and to the right of my right testicle, where the epididymous is. I'd rate it about a 2-3. More nuisance than pain, at this point anyway. I'll probably take some tylenol with lunch to see if it helps. I was on the computer last night for about 2 hours, sitting! But I didn't have any pain at all last night.
I've been walking a lot and stretched out two nights ago, but again, I was pain free yesterday. I am coming up on my 1 year vasectomy reversal anniversary. I really hope nothing bad is happening down there. I'm finally to the point where I feel somewhat normal. Like I could hold down a job without worrying about my physical abilities.
I just pray that the pain is nothing more than pain, rather than a symptom of something bad taking place down there. There was a new person on the forum that I replied to. Her husband had a vasectomy 1 year ago and woke up the other day with epididymitis (presumably). I explained how I had a similar experience and now here I am waking up this morning with this weird pain.

Spasm of Vas Deference
I wonder if some of the pain I experience isn't caused by a spasm on my vas deference. The burning sensation I had and other sensations I've had inside my scrotum on the right side are linear, like they're running the length of my vas. I wonder if it isn't a spasm. I think that would explain a lot.
Some people, for instance, state their pain is less intense after taking a xanax, or after they do pelvic relaxation exercises or after taking an alpha blocker like rapaflo. It seems like those things might prevent or some how affect the state of the vas.
There is a precedent for this idea, as people with asthma have bronchoconstriction of their airways or a spasm of their smooth muscle inside their airways. So our bodies can react in that manner. Now, perhaps the upset nerves are causing the spasm, like a short circuited wire, intermittently sending the signal or not sending the appropriate signal, whichever the case may be.
Anyway, just a thought. Regarding yesterday, I did not have any real significant pain in my groin after my E.J. I'm not sure if it's because of it or just a coincidence. I've thought about doing it again today, but I'm still conflicted about the idea. I told my wife what I did yesterday in the shower and she just apologized for not taking care of that for me. So, I'm not really sure what to do. Maybe I'll try to take a hot shower/bath. Nobody has run the hot water yet today, so there might be enough hot water to work.
One thing I know, sitting at this computer does not make my "boo boo area" (as we call it around the house) feel any better. I've got to get a different computer chair.
